Removal of Endpoint Encryption in McAfee

by karen minton I am a software engineer

Encryption is the way to encode the data to become inoperative unless the user has its decryption key. If you are wondering what the role of Endpoint encryption is, you must know that it serves to protect your operating system from attack or installation of faulty software, including keyloggers, Trojans rootkits, etc. One can lock their files on tablets, laptops, and servers to restrict unauthorized programs and users from siphoning off your data with encryption.

Several organizations encrypt information like bank account information, healthcare information, social security numbers, residential addresses, etc. These are sensitive information that requires protection at both points, from its storage point to transmitted point.

Still, if you don’t feel the encryption requirement or are upgrading to the latest version, you can remove the Endpoint encryption from your system. Windows holds a feature ”uninstaller utility” that will help you manage the apps and programs installed on your device. To conveniently conduct the process, follow the simple steps below:

  1. Start the process by Signing in to Windows using your administrator username and password.
  2. Now, go to the ”Start” option and find the ”Control Panel” on the horizontal list’s right side.
  3. A list of options will open up. Find the ”Programs and Features” option from there and select it.
  4. Again a list of programs will appear. Select the option ”McAfee Endpoint Encryption” from the list.
  5. Right-click on it and choose the ”Uninstall” option.
  6. Now, reach the Uninstaller window and tap on the ”Remove all.”
  7. The progress bar will show you that the program is uninstalling.
  8. Finally, restart your device so that the above changes are saved on your device.

Endpoint encryption is a vital feature to secure your data while transferring. So, it would be better if you have an alternative option to safeguard your data before proceeding with the removal of Endpoint encryption.
