Reasons Why Vinyl Flooring Will Floor You
by Jenny M. laminate floorsFlooring
made of vinyl has made a comeback and for a good reason. It is no longer the
dull and boring flooring of the yesteryears. They no longer bear the brownish
square patterns from your grandmother’s kitchen or of the lifeless golden
colour. Technology has improved and vinyl flooring
has become much better. In fact, they do not conjure the images of the drab
old floors any longer. They are now far from lifeless.
Wide range of colours and styles
New
floors made of vinyl are extremely versatile and beautiful. In order to imprint
the various designs on these floors, a process called rotogravure is used. Rotary
presses with photoengraved plates are used in order to imprint just about any
design on the vinyl. You can now emulate any design that is on the other types
of flooring and imprint the same on vinyl. Also, there are multitudes of
patterns, colours, and textures that you can choose from irrespective of your
preferences and budget.
Easy to clean
Vinyl floors
are easy to clean since they come
in the “no wax” variety. In other words, you would not need to wax your floors
in order to make them squeaky clean. All you would need to clean them is a damp
mop. What’s more, the top layer will be resistant to scratching and staining,
giving you value for your money. However, it is important to note that these
floors will lose their sheen over a period of time. The good news is that you
can recoat it after that with no wax material wherever the sheen has
diminished. Make sure you use the coating recommended by the manufacturer
though since there are many different formulations available in the market.
Wear resistant and long lasting
Most
of the floors made of vinyl are durable and highly wear resistant. The special
wear layer in this type of flooring would protect the floor from wear and tear.
The thicker the wear layer, the longer the flooring will last. Enquire about the
thickness of the wear layer with the manufacturer of the different floorings. Make
sure you buy the more expensive type if you would like the wear layer to be a
little thicker. Also, ensure that the underfoot is extremely comfortable to
step on. In other words, it should have a comfortable cushion on top of it. Such
floors can save you lots of money in the long run.
