Reasons behind People Wearing Hats

by Kirk Bachelder Businessman , Professional Writer, Fashionable

Hats are worn to cover the head and protect it from outdoor elements, from the sun, the rain, and the cold.  Hats or caps such as baseball caps are worn by athletes when they are out in the open practicing their sport.  Wearing a hat or cap ensures that the worst of the perspiration is absorbed by it.  Hats are also worn for ceremonial occasions such as at university graduations and in law courts.  It is also a fashion accessory that draws a lot of attention on occasions such as the Royal Ascot races.  Milliners use hat displays to display the styles of the season.

Types Of Hats Used In Everyday Life

Hats and caps are similar in that they are both used to cover the head.  The difference is that the hat has a brim and a shaped crown whereas the cap has a peak with a soft top.  Caps are usually associated with informal occasions such as at games and out in the open whereas hats imply more formal occasions.  In earlier times, hats were worn by people who belonged to the upper class and was an indication of their social status.  Hard hats such as those worn by construction workers protect their heads from falling objects at construction sites.  Hat displays help the merchant to display his supply to increase sales.

Hat Displays To Exhibit Hat Collection

Hats also indicate the religious inclination of a person such as the miters of Bishops and Sikh turbans.  Of course the cowboy hats and Stetsons are world famous.  Hats have been slowly making a comeback in the fashion world.  The advantage of using hat displays is that it helps the milliner to showcase his supply and the types of brands that he stocks.  There are revolving hat racks as well as ones that can be used on table tops.

Progress Of Hats Down The Ages

Hats have evolved over the years with the upper class Egyptians first popularizing its use with the headdress they wore to cover their shaved heads.  The 18th century saw Milan in Italy leading the way in the manufacture of top quality hats decorated with lace and other trimmings. Wholesale hats began to be decorated with flowers, ribbons, and feathers into the first half of the 19th century. Hats have continued to be popular in the 21st century which is why hat display racks are in demand to help merchants display the various insignia on the caps they stock.

All milliners need hat displays to showcase the different brands of hats as well as the types of hat that they stock.  An artistic and attractive display of hats helps to draw the attention of potential customers.  Hat displays can be table top displays or revolving ones.
