Situated in Aravalli Hills in Rajasthan in India Ranthmbore is a wildlife reserve a protected area meant for protect the endangered tiger. But the reserve is a biodiversity hub that sustains broad spectrum wilderness in terms of flora and fauna.

The park offers an opportunity to witness heart throbbing excitement of wild animals during the safari. The park is home to many avian species and these provide a wonderful recreation to the hobbyist. Another charm of the destination is presence of ancient historical structures like temples, cenotaphs, hunting quarters  and the massive fort.

Unique an truly the Ranthambore safari offers a spectacular vision of natural and ancient India. The tiger is in the focus in this reserve but other animals enchant as well like the sloth bear always up to some antics, langur and rhesus macaque the only primates species in the park and the dainty deer which are the main prey base of the tigers. Apart from the common animals the park is home to the rare caracal, wolf and hyena along with antelopes like the Nilgai and Indian gazelle. The reptiles are found in plenty and during the game rides you can see the python, cobra, monitor lizard and the marsh crocodile which hunt alongside  the big cats and some times there is a tussle. This is interesting as both the deadly predators indulge in an astonishing tug of war in the waters and the banks of the numerous man made and natural lakes in the reserve.

For bird watchers the park is a hot spot withe more than two hundred species to look for. These include the pale-arctic migrants which visit in the winters. Carry good quality binoculars or spotting scope along with a hand guide on Indian birds.

The safaris are organised in day and evening times and a permit is required. This is issued by the State forest department online. This is compulsory hence should be booked in advance because there is a limit to entry at Ranthambore.

The wildlife safari is organized on canters which have twenty seats and in open jeep which are privately owned. The latter is costly but offer a more private safari. The excursions are limited to one zone at a time as per the permit. You choose a zone among total ten if it is available.

There are zones in the buffer or the outer ring of the reserve but they are less productive hence tourists prefer the core area.

For accommodations you will find hotels and resorts of all types. The high end and the heritage properties are the best although you can stay in a budget hotel  if you wish. The hotels can be booked online through their websites. The hotels also organize safaris in the park and hence the permit booking should be handed to them if you book accommodation much in advance.

For exciting wildlife safari at Ranthambore the hotels offer naturalists services. They are learned about wild animals and birds besides having good interpretative skills. If you do not wish for a naturalist to accompany you there is a forest guide that will accompany you as it is mandatory.

If you book many safaris your wild holiday experience would be fantastic. If you are a wildlife photographer then you can book a full day safari by paying more. The full day safari accords early entry and late exit while you can stay inside the park for whole day.

To reach the National Park the best route of New Delhi to Jaipur and then Sawai Madhopur which is just few kilometres. New Delhi is an International Airport while jaipur is the Capital City with an airport.
