Raid the ‘Dressing Up Box’ Like a Boss Here’s How You Can Manage Kids Dressing

by Swati Ahuja Green Digo

Are you a juggler in the everyday circus that is known as life?

If yes, you’re in luck.

It just so happens that the next few paras are dedicated to offering helpful advice to parents who have to manage it all.

Struggling to get the rug rats ready before you have to jet to the office?

Here are some practical tips for working mums to manage kids dressing in an easy, convenient, timely and fuss-free manner.

We’ve outlined the tip to toe of kids dressing.

#Tip No. 1 - Sort, sift, and stack ‘em up

Kids have pretty hectic schedules, what with school, extracurricular activities, sports, and birthday parties. We get it. To ensure you’re not scavenging for items, last minute, make sure to pre-plan. Divide those outfits into different categories like casualwear, formalwear, sportswear, and nightwear. Additionally, separate the new buys; store them in a different shelf or drawer. This way, whenever you need something, whatever style or occasion it may be, you will remain stress-free. Be it clothes for boys or girls, be sorted -pun intended.

#Tip No. 2 - Follow the ‘one night before’ rule

Mornings can be messy, a big ol’ slop fest, that’s for sure. No matter when the alarm goes off, there never seems to be enough time to get everything in order before the school bus or car-poolers arrive. So, optimise those moments between bath time and breakfast time by having your kids clothing picked out the night prior. Put some thought and care into what you select, the last thing you need is a temper tantrum in the wee hours of the day.

#Tip No. 3 - Let the trendy tots participate

Today’s kids know what they want and they’re not afraid to show it. Style is something that begins very young and we can see this unfolding with children claiming their fashion sense. To make kids dressing a pleasing rather than painful experience, rope them into the process. Whether it has to do with allowing them to pick small things like hair clips or shoelaces, or asking them to put on the sleeves/wear pants by themselves, encourage collaboration.

#Tip No. 4 - Offer up a wholesome distraction

For the ones with a short attention span (most kids, hello!), this tip serves up all the feels. Now, we’re strictly referring to toddlers who can’t dress themselves. When zipping up, strapping on, fastening, tying, or any other motion, make sure the wrigglers are sufficiently distracted. Give them an object to hold onto, ask your spouse to sing or dance, or put on the television for a few minutes. Seize the moments when they’re cooperative.

#Tip No. 5 - Always entertain the extras

When it comes to dressing young children, you can never have too many pairs in hand. Home, school, park, creche, they’re perpetually on-the-go. So, be prepared for multiple changes from the inevitable spills. Furthermore, one of the biggest challenges is when your little one begins to grow so quickly, that, before you know it, they’ve outgrown most of their wardrobe. Now, you don’t have the right size for them. To bid this problem away, make sure to stock in twos.
