Advanced Data File Troubleshooting to Correct Problems With Quicken for Windows

Before starting

Although data integrity problems are often considered a data integrity problem, a problem arises with the preferences or the data is displayed incorrectly to the queen. Before troubleshooting data integrity problems, review your configuration and preferences. Also, make sure you are in the latest version of the program.

Note: It may be better to restore the backup from a date before the problem starts. You can find the steps to restore the backup here. Once restored, see if the problems you faced were resolved or not. If it is not, try the valid steps listed with that file.

If you can not open your data file, you can also restore a backup and validity.

When should I follow the valid steps listed below?

Copy and verify your file

Always make a backup before performing complex procedures. This ensures that you have a "recovery" file that you can use to return to where you started.

Go to File> File operations> Copy (do not choose to listen and copy for this process).
Leave all settings, including file names and check boxes to their default values (do not change anything on this screen).
Once the copy is complete, select Open a new copy.
In the new copy, go to File> File operations> Valid and repair> to make sure there are no problems with the data in this file.
If your problem was with an investment account with investment account latency or other data problems, be sure to also select reconstruction during this process.
Once the validation process is finished, you will see that Data_Log will appear in the Notepad window. This file is a summary of the verification results.
Check Data_Log.txt to see the messages related to the quality of your data and solve the instructions you must follow.

Example of damage in the data record

If you receive a "Damaged data blocking" message in Data_Log after the validation is complete, the file can not be re-prepared. We recommend restoring a backup before the date indicated in this message.
Do a test to see if you were facing the problem you were facing.
Note: Quickly save a backup copy of this file before it is validated. This file is in a valid folder instead of your Quicken data file.

If the problem persists.

If you still experience problems (such as a severe latency that can not be resolved through the verification process or other conditions that indicate a data integrity problem), contact the Quick Support for help with troubleshooting additional problems.

If you have recently updated to a new version of Quicken

If you have purchased and installed a new version oQuickenen and have problems with your data (such as missing or incorrect totals), there may be a problem with the conversion. Try to complete the valid steps above in the first version first, then convert the file. Also, depending on the version of Quicken you are updating, an intermediate version may be required during the conversion process. For further information please click here.
