QuickBooks POS Invalid Product Number

Solution 1: Delete the contents of the Point Of Sale entitlement folder and try again

Windows 8

  • Right-click on the Start button and choose File Explorer.
  • Then, click the View tab and check the Hidden items check-box.
  • After checking the hidden box, Navigate in the left window to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  • Select all the files in the folder and press Delete.
  • For the registration open Point of Sale again and complete the process.


Windows 7 and Vista

  • Right-click on Start button and Open Windows Explorer.
  • Click Organize and select Folder and Search Options.
  • Click the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Then, Navigate in the left window to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
  • Select all the files in the folder and then press Delete.
  • For the registration open Point of Sale again and complete the process.


Solution 2: Uninstall and Reinstall Point of Sale

  • First, Uninstall Point of Sale.
  • Then, Reinstall Point of Sale from a CD or download.
  • If the error recurs, run a repair installation on Point of Sale, verifying the Product Number and License Number.
  • After this, Open Point of Sale and register if prompted.
