Purpose Of A Signage

by Dorano V. Professional PR since 2010

Signage has become like part and parcel of our lives. You cannot walk for about 500 meters without coming across one. You will find them on the road signs, workplace, groceries etc. This signage will help you know the speed you are supposed to use at a certain place on the road signs and signage on stalls will help you know when they usually open and when they close. I know you are getting what a signage is but how can you define a signage if you are told to? I can define a signage as a graphic display that contains information for a targeted audience. A corporate signage especially has different purposes. Stay with me as I help you understand some of this purposes.

signage

·         The very basic purpose of most signage is advertising and marketing a business.  Signage helps the audience know why a certain company or business is the perfect choice without necessarily having to talk to anyone who works in the company or doing any research from the internet.

·         Some signage are actually used to entice the customers! Might sound funny or crazy but our minds are very curious and we always want to learn new things. When a signage that has fantastic display is put on the windows of a shop or a company, trust me you will find yourself wanting to know what is inside the building. You will not be the only on one with this curiosity meaning the business will enjoy increased traffic just because of a corporate signage.

·         The purpose of putting a signage can be as simple as wanting recognition. For example, a signage can be there to help people, especially visitors, identify which restrooms they should use. Other signage are used to identify a brand. For example who does not know the signage of Coca-Cola? Starbucks has also established itself and anyone can identify their signage.

·         Another important purpose of a signage is communicating safety and health information. This type of signage can be found in places like schools, offices, nurseries and workplaces. These kinds of signs usually provides warnings and information about threats or hazards which are crucial to safety.  For example, a signage like this maybe warning kids from playing in the ground floor of a particular building because there are naked wires in there which can be dangerous.

·         Some signage has a directional purpose. This is one of the most used signage that we all encounter in our day to day lives. You will find directional signage in schools, hospitals, supermarkets, and corporations. They are especially very helpful to visitors who are visiting a company for the first time. A person will be able to find his or her own way through the buildings without necessarily needing a guide. Directional signage has also been used in a lot of events in order to provide assistance to the many guests who can’t really have a guide helping them in everything. Signage also have a purpose of appearance.
