Protecting Your Organization's Online Credibility

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

Many business leaders work hard to build the best website possible for their organization. One problem that organizations encounter is that there are many people who often try to subvert these efforts. The good news is that it doesn't matter if your business is located in Utah or on the East Coast, there are steps you can take to protect your SEO content.

As with trying to protect against most problems, the first step to protecting your content is planning. This means you need to prepare as though your site and your content is going to be hacked, but hope that it doesn't. Backing up your website and content frequently can make recovery easier in the event that you are hacked.

It is important to remember that these hacking efforts are often done with great stealth and are often hard to find. For example, one tactic that people use to assault an organization’s SEO content is through the use of shady backlinks. They do this by building low-quality links that hurt the credibility of a site. However, there are several services that provide tracking and monitoring of backlinks to help you prevent and combat this problem.

Another way that hackers from the Midwest to Utah destroy your website and its SEO is through spam. This is more nefarious than simply posting spammy comments on a blog. People sometimes break into your account and begin posting and modifying your website as though it were really you.

There are several ways that you can prevent this from happening. The first method is to use a layer of code on your site to create a key that prevents unwanted people from accessing your site. It is also a good idea to modify your directory to prevent hackers from indexing important information on your administration page.

Another way to prevent spam from unwanted users in Utah and around the world from logging in to your site is by using layers of security. Google and other apps offer the ability to require a second code beyond your password to login. This code is often randomly generated and sent to your phone in order to login.

Finally, the convenient thing about the Internet is that it doesn't matter if you are in Utah or on in a completely different country, you can still access the same content. However, this is also a big problem. Hackers can post duplicate content and ruin your content’s credibility and your SEO work, so be sure you frequently monitor what you publish.
