Problems Caused by Chronic Back Pain (and How to Solve Them)

by Ivan Dimitrijevic SEO / Social Media Consultant

When we become newly employed we become too focused on our work and are eager to show how productive we are. As a result we become more tired, spend more time sitting and gradually become more physically inactive. This sort of inactivity can result in chronic back-pain problems, which ultimately leads to further problems. Anyone who has chronic back pain problems will tell you how life soon becomes a living hell. So, before you walk into this trap here’s what kind of problems you can experience, and what you should do in order to avoid them.

Productivity issues

One thing’s for certain, back pain is a major distraction, and you’ll have a hard time focusing on the work you’re supposed to do. Additionally, sitting itself becomes quite uncomfortable and you spend a lot of time constantly adjusting your position. To quote the line from true detective “Pain is inexhaustible, it’s people who get exhausted”, this is also the case here. You will become very tired gradually and have much less energy to work with.

Sleeping issues

This is closely connected to the first statement. Your back pain will prevent you from sleeping, and since the lights and TV are both off there are no distractions, and you can only focus on the pain. This kind of sleep deprivation will put your life out of balance, you’ll get stuck in a vicious cycle where you are constantly tired, but at the same time can’t fall asleep. Soon your performance at work will drop, your relationships will suffer, and your overall happiness will drop.

A lot more stress

While you are under constant pain, you’ll also be under constant stress. Your mood will rapidly shift and you’ll get more edgy than usual. This kind of tenacity will only contribute to an already unbearable ache. Under stress, our muscles do not have time to relax, and this will only cause muscle spasms which translates to even more pain.

Solutions

Here are a few solutions for back pain troubles:

  • Anti-inflammatory medicine or painkillers – these are both quick solutions to the problem, and they can be used in order to fall asleep with ease. Watch out though, these pills can cause addiction and, if you use them constantly, their effectiveness will eventually mitigate.

  • Hot and cold treatment – it can be quite effective as well. Use frozen vegetables or heated water and place them on the affected area. Keep it there until the pain subsides.

  • Massage or a day at the spa – this will allow you muscles to relax and you will feel less stressful, allowing you to fall asleep and improving your mood.

  • Yoga or physical exercise in general – these have the power to remove the pain over time. This is one of the best solutions, however, you’ll have to work through the pain for a couple of training sessions.  Your muscles need a good stretch and activity, this is why doing yoga in the morning can help you tremendously.

Back pain has become quite a persistent problem in modern society, but if we are careful and utilize some of this valuable advice, the problem can go away within a couple of months.
