Playoff Race: Golden State Warriors

by Kim Morrie Professional Sports Bettor

Only a little more than a month from now and the most exciting part of the NBA season will be taking place as the best teams in the league will slug it out in the playoffs. It’s the high time for sports and betting as the sports fans get to watch the highest level of competition in the world of basketball. Betting for sports is never more exciting when the best teams play each other. The list of best teams, however, is not yet set in stone as teams are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs. Well, the eastern conference is pretty much a done deal with a huge difference between the eighth and ninth place. The western conference however is still showing to be a really wild place as five teams are still scrapping for the last three playoff spots. The playoff future for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trailblazers and Utah Jazz is still murky and a few wins or losing streaks for the teams can completely change the fate of for each. In a funny way, the fates of these teams are intertwined with each other.

Now let’s take a look at the Golden State Warriors, a team that started the season as a hot shooting team but has recently cooled down and slumping as of late.

As of March 6, the Warriors are on sitting on the sixth spot of the playoffs picture with a record of 34 wins and 27 losses. However, that seat isn’t very comfortable as the team is separated from the seventh spot by only single game. A loss for the Warriors and a win for the Rockets can change the rankings.

To get a better picture of the playoff chances of the Warriors, it’s important to look at the remaining schedule for the season. Having played 61 games as of now, the team only has 21 games to go and the games and schedule are as follows.

  • March 6 – Sacramento Teams at home
  • March 8 – Houston Rockets at home
  • March 9 – Milwaukee Bucks at home
  • March 11 – New York Knicks at home
  • March 13 – Detroit Pistons at home
  • March 15 – Chicago Bulls at home
  • March 17 – Houston Rockets on road
  • March 18 – New Orleans Hornets on road
  • March 20 – San Antonio Spurs on road
  • March 23 – Washington Wizards at home
  • March 25 – Los Angeles Lakers at home
  • March 27 – Sacramento Kings at home
  • March 30 – Portland Trailblazers at home
  • April 3 – New Orleans Hornets at home
  • April 5 – Phoenix Suns on road
  • April 7 – Utah Jazz at home
  • April 9 – Minnesota Timberwolves at home
  • April 11 – Oklahoma City Thunder at home
  • April 12 – Los Angeles Lakers on road
  • April 15 – San Antonio Spurs at home
  • April l 17 – Portland Trailblazers at home

As you can see, 16 out of 21 games are played at home with only 2 back-to-back games, with second games setting them up against the Bucks and Lakers. Out of the 21 games, only 11 are against teams on .500 and above.

On a general perspective, the remaining schedule for the Golden State Warriors is easier than most other teams, giving them a very good chance at staying in the playoffs. However, that all depends on their game from here on out.

I’m expecting the worst the team can do is 11-10 record along the way, and the best is 16-5, resulting to a final record between 45-37 and 50-32. Of course, to judge the chances of playoffs, we need to check the other teams.
