Amritsar
Amritsar is a largest city in the state of
Punjab, India. This city is located in the north-western part of the country,
is a home for world renowned Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), and considered as
the holy place for the Sikh religion. This temple alone draws 100,000 visitors
on weekdays and it is the best tourist destination for most of Non Resident
Indians (NRIs). It had bitter memories during, pre and post Indian Independence
movement. Most violent revolts in the Indian history were taken place in the
city including, ‘Jallianwala Bagh Massacre’, ‘Operation Blue Star’.
Post-Independence, while the ‘British India’ partitioned in to ‘India’ and
‘Pakistan’, there is a profound effect on the city’s economy, culture and
politics. Temples, memorials, and delicious Punjabi cuisines are the best
things to explore in the city.

Museum are also located inside the temple, where you can explore the religion
and temple history. You can listen to the Sikh’s sacred book ‘Adi Granth’
scriptures that narrate out loud during the day time.
Jallianwala Bagh is another place to visit in
Amritsar. This memorial is located nearby the Golden Temple. During the Indian
Independence Movement, unarmed men, women and children were gathered at
Jallianwala Bagh for a political meeting. At that time, British Indian Army
opened fire at the crowd, which left 1579 die (including children), and 1100
