Pilates was developed by the late Joseph Pilates, born in 1880 in Germany.

In 1926, Joseph Pilates left Germany to New York with his wife and set-up their first Pilates exercise studio there.

The best way to learn Pilates is by joining a Pilates classes whether in group or private. In the group classes, the cost will be less expensive, but you might not get all the attention you need. While in a private class, the learning process will be more intense but you'll have to pay more.

There're also many Pilates exercise videos that you can get easily from the video stores near your neighborhood or from the internet. Even you can get free basic version of Pilates exercise.
