Permanent Residency in Australia for Business Owners and Investors without getting sponsored

Australian government offers the subclass 890 and subclass 891 visas for those foreign business owners and investors who haven’t been sponsored by a state/territory government for permanent residency in Australia.

In order to become eligible for subclass 890 visa, you have to meet the following requirements:

· You are already present in Australia on one of the following visas: subclass 160, 161, 162, 163, 164, or 165

· You have already lived in Australia for at least one year in the past two years

· You are already managing up to 2 businesses in Australia

· Your business ownership must be one of the following:

o 51% with annual turnover of less than AUD400,000

o 30% with annual turnover of more than AUD400,000

o 10% in publically listed company

o 10% if business was owned before 19 April 2010

· You and your spouse/legal partner must have never been involved in illegal business activities in the past

For subclass 891, Investor visa, you have to meet the following requirements:

· You are already present in Australia on the Investor (Provisional) subclass 162 visa

· You have already lived in Australia for at least 2 years in past 4 years (on your subclass 162 visa)

· You assure to maintain a minimum annual investment of AUD1,500,000 in Australian economy for 4 years

· You and your spouse/legal partner must have never been involved in any illegal business activities

Additionally, for both visas, applicants have to meet certain health and character requirements as set by the Australian government.

Subclass 890 and 891 visas allow you to live in Australia with your family indefinitely. You and your family members can work and study in Australia without restrictions. You can also apply for Australian citizenship once you are eligible. Additionally you can sponsor your eligible relative for permanent residency visa.
