Parks and Recreation’ Executive Dead from Drug Overdose

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

Although the Hollywood lifestyle and attention may seem glamourous, far too many times we have witnessed celebrities self-medicate to rid themselves of personal issues; be them mental or emotional. On Feb 19, Harris Wittels, one of the producers for the hit TV show “Parks and Recreation,” was found dead in his home next to drug paraphernalia.

Early reports are suggesting that Wittels’ death was a result of an accidental heroin overdose, which is one of the more common overdoses because the potency of the drug is unknown until it is consumed.

The comedian had actually talked about opioid use in a podcast. Opioids like heroin are so hard to quit that most users in drug rehab need to go through methadone maintenance treatment—a specific rehab that replaces the drug with a recommended dosage of side-effect-free methadone—in order to avoid the dangers of withdrawal.

Wittels claimed he began using drugs at age 12. With various studies showing the dangers of adolescent drug use, the comic could have had addiction issues stemming from his teenage years and recreational drug use.

Sadly, Wittels struggled with valuing himself and his meaning to the world, even though he meant so much to so many people. He admitted that he struggled to see the value in his life because he had no one depending on him. This can be the thought of a lot of people who struggle with drug addiction. With the help of therapy and drug rehab, they can find additional meaning in their lives and see their true value.

Wittels’ story serves as another reminder that self-love can often be the best starting point for a person to eventually enter drug rehab and regain control of their life.
