Mr. Rohtas Goel, a first-generation entrepreneur, and civil engineer, launched the brand 'Omaxe' in 1987 to handle building construction and contracting operations.

Omaxe Builders Private Ltd. was formed in 1989, and it later became a 'Limited Company' in 1999. The firm was the first in northern India to acquire an ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.

It later made its inroad into the real estate business in 2001. Soon after, it built many group housing projects in Noida and, later, its first township, NRI City in Greater Noida.

It was listed on both - National Stock Exchange of India and the Bombay Stock Exchange- in 2007. On issuing its first public offering, it was oversubscribed by 80 times.
