OMAN HOSTS THE FOOTBALL FAN FESTIVAL DURING THE WORLD CUP

Oman's World Cup schedule has announced the Football Fan Festival, which will be hosted during the World Cup tournament in Qatar with a variety of exciting activities, competitions, food stalls, and more.

Each World Cup match will also be broadcast live at the festival, which will take place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) Gardens between November 20 and December 18, 2022, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA).

Speaking at the upcoming festival, Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Tourism and head of the steering committee overseeing the Oman World Cup program, said: “The World Cup is one of the most important sporting events to have taken place in the region in recent years. Oman "aims to strengthen our position as a satellite city to support the Qatar World Cup efforts and attract fans looking for the perfect base to stay and explore while competing in the tournament.

“With the Football Fan Festival as the main attraction of the program, we aim to bring the excitement and atmosphere of the World Cup to local and visiting fans, while also showing all that Oman has to offer: its unique history, heritage, beauty, and renowned hospitality."

An area of over 9,000 square meters within the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center Gardens will be dedicated to the Football Fan Festival, featuring a purpose-built fan village for all ages, football fans and not.

All World Cup matches are broadcast live during the festival, where visitors can also enjoy a wide variety of interactive games, innovative technologies, football competitions, live performances, and food and beverage options serving local and international cuisine. SMEs from more than 60 different categories are currently involved in the implementation of this innovative project.

The Football Fan Festival has named Omani football icon Ali Al Habsi as the official brand ambassador, along with favorite sports personalities Khalil Al Balushi, Fatma Al Nabhani, and Mohammed Al Noufali. They will all participate in the Festival's promotional activities and on-site activations.
