Nymphomania: what is it?

by Jack Johnson Designer

The term nymphomania is an increased sex drive in women (hypersexuality). As in the case of frigidity, it is extremely difficult to draw a fine line between pathology and the satisfaction of sexual desire. More often, doctors talk about nymphomania in terms of mental illness (manic-depressive psychosis, psychopathy) and less often associate it with health problems (hormonal disruptions, pituitary or ovarian diseases). It has not been scientifically proven that nymphomania is a disease that develops against the background of a natural strong sexual desire. In most cases, it is associated with the action of psychogenic factors (doubts about one's own sexuality, complexes, stress).

In the Victorian era, nymphomania was considered an obsession and, with the help of cruel torture, they tried to drive the evil spirit out of a woman. In the 19th century, nymphomania was classified as a mental illness, which could be cured with leeches attached to the walls of the vagina.

Over the centuries, many medical theories have tried to explain the causes of nymphomania in terms of overwork of the nervous system, inflammation of the brain, lesions of the spine, as well as in terms of the size of individual parts of the female genital organs, in particular the clitoris. Doctors have associated increased sexual desire with current diseases developing in the female body, with a simultaneous mental disorder.

The French doctor M. Bienville in his research, dated 1775, linked the emergence of nymphomania with the consumption of large amounts of chocolate, reading novels, masturbation and “dirty” thoughts.

A typical portrait of a nymphomaniac is a woman who constantly thinks about sex, having sexual relations with many partners. In view of this, the question of the correct selection of contraceptives is gaining relevance in order to prevent the occurrence of genital infections.

It is impossible to define the boundaries of nymphomania from a medical point of view. Each woman has an individual need for sex. However, an active sex life should at least include the use of condoms and regular gynecological examinations.

Frequent change of sexual partners can disrupt the microflora of the vagina, which leads to the appearance of thrush, provokes inflammation in the pelvic organs. A woman who is sexually active should take steps to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It is best to discuss this issue with a gynecologist (hormone therapy, intrauterine device).

There are no typical signs by which a woman can be attributed to a nymphomaniac. Some people attribute sexual insatiation and masturbation to symptoms of nymphomania, others - obscene behavior, causing clothing or consent to sex.

I want to say that sex always starts long before sexual intercourse. This is looks, and touch, and communication. If a woman is frigid or nymphomaniac, this is not only a woman's problem, but also a man's. Therefore, it must be solved together. And, of course, for this, partners should not neglect the help of doctors (urologist, gynecologist, sexologist, psychotherapist). First of all for men which using cialis professional, a regular sex life, which brings satisfaction to both, should begin with solving the problems of women's or men's health. And yet each of us has a different sexual constitution and, which also requires attention. Indeed, many people often use the term "frigidity" or "nymphomaniac" in a false context that has nothing to do with reality.
