• Has USB ports that may help you to extend the storage
• The one you’ll want for Plex and gaming

What’s the Main Difference Between These Two Models?

In recent times, NVIDIA has made several things clear that they are going to redesign the older specialization and design of the earlier models like the svelte and streamlined tube. Actually, it’s not dongle or sticks, so don’t overthink this product. It is something that comfortably fits between wall and TV. But one thing is clear that it is a much more interesting device, which is more like that plug into your TV and your TV is ready for streaming. 

As mentioned earlier that both the models have some identical designs, but have some little differences. The Pro model has the same edgy design that looks similar to the Shield’s TV model. It can be configured as a smarter thing to control smart devices installed in your home. 

But in the newer model, the company has involved two USB ports that can extend external storage, connect keyboards, and can use other connectivity features. If you are a game lover, then the newer PRO version involves gaming experience with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. Internal storage is less than the older version. These options are designed in such a way that they will be loved by the folks who like to tinker their gadgets. 

One thing is quite clear that both models are suitable for the gamers and support a full library of the games, but still, you may need 3GB of RAM to run the game fluently. In simple words, if you want to download and play games like portal and Doom 3, on the shield TV, you can go with the PRO model. 

Apart from the internal specification, if you look for the external features, then you will see the update in the remote department, which is wholly consistent in both the models. The previous model of the remote was too smooth and thin, but there was some touch sensor issue. 

The redesigned remote has a new layout feature with a dedicated media control button like the Netflix button. It also has some customizable button that you can find on the top right of the remote, which can be programmed to open the settings and toggle on the AI, mute volume, and much more.

But things become a bit complicated when you own an older version of the Shield TV. If your Shield is working well, then thank NVIDIA as they have played their part pretty well with their software updates. Even the 2017 model is also working well with enough internal storage, which is quite good.  

No doubt, the technical updates are part of the 2019 shield’s line-up, which increases the TV’s worth. Even the models have the Dolby Vision and Dolby atmos, but the AI feature is not part of the older version of the Shield.
