Nolan Details the Strange Way To Shot His Favorite Tenet Shot

by Delhi Magazines Delhi Magazines

Christopher Nolan opened up about his strange way to shoot his recent film Tenet. Tenet is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and it was released on 3 September 2020 after rescheduling multiple times. And in a few weeks, it exceeded the gross box office collection of $100 worldwide. The science fiction is based on the time-bending concept, stars John David Washington, Clemence Poesy, and Robert Pattinson. Tenet is all set to become Nolan’s other classic. The mind-bending physics left the audience shocked and baffled.

Tenet is a 2020 spy film directed and written by Christopher Nolan. Nolan conceived the idea of the movie over a decade ago and took five years to write the screenplay. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema filmed the movie on IMAX and 70mm. The movie received mostly positive reviews from critics for action sequences and the performances of actors. At the same time, some criticized the impassive tone, sound mixing, and confusing plot. The film became the sixth highest-grossing film of 2020. The title TENET is a palindrome that reads the same forward and backward. Nolan abstains from getting influenced by any spy film other than his memory. The particular effect supervisor, Scott Fisher, watched many WWII documentaries to find references for realism. Nolan used no green screen or CGI for the movie; he even used real planes to shoot a plane crash sequence.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Christopher Nolan revealed how he had filmed his favorite shot in the movie. He explained that one of his favorite shots is when the shot is taken down from the boat’s bow, and the waves are running backward. That was the moment when they were on the ice breaker. Hoyte and Ryan, who were the film’s cinematographer, put the camera to roll in a little porthole in the bow.

The above show is not an essential sequence of the film, yet it added the scene’s aesthetic value. And it is pleasing to watch the hard work and improvisation the team did to make the movie great.

Nolan has his contribution to changing and taking the cinema in a new and better direction. The history of cinema would be different without his films. He has given some fantastic movies which changed the perspective of audiences regarding films. It would not be wrong to say that now ‘Christopher Nolan’ has become a brand, and he is raising the bars for science fiction every year. Hopefully, his fans will soon be going to witness his another masterpiece.
