Nintendo To Slash Its Switch Sales Forecast After Massive Profits In Third Quarter
by Hayate Abul Digital MarketingThe Nintendo
Switch proved to be the number one gaming console for 2018, beating well known
PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
Still, the
Nintendo is still not convinced, that it would achieve its said target of 20
million consoles to be sold by the end of March 31st, 2019.
In the recent
financial briefing, Nintendo disclosed that they would be resetting their sales
goals for the Nintendo Switch from 20 million to the 17 million mark for the
2018-2019 financial year, as they have sold only 14.49 million consoles until
April 2018.
As Nintendo has
sold over 32.27 million units worldwide since its launch, it becomes quite hard
to digest that they would expect a downfall in the sales for Nintendo Switch
and reset their previous goal of 20 million mark.
In spite of
Nintendo suggesting downfall for its flagship product, it is pretty unlikely
that they would fail to touch the 20 million sales mark. As the product has
already reached the 14 million mark, it is quite likely that they would at
least cross 18 million mark.
Fans of Switch
are quite surprised by such declaration and are not certain as to what made the
Nintendo slash its set target, but other experts suggest that Nintendo was
never expected to outperform such huge sales in the first place and taking this
decision of slashing the sales target is no shocker to them.
Moreover,
Nintendo Switch lacks in the number of available games for their device which
prominently made them resolve to such brutal decision making.
Nintendo Switch
provided its users with a number of first-party lineup games in its initial
2018 year, like the Super Smash Bros which turned out to be a massive success.
Also, gamers were quite thrilled to experience
games like Pokémon Lets Go Eevee and Pikachu, Mario Marty which provided
players with a new type of gaming style and encouraged more and more gamers to
get on with such trending games.
Still, it eventually lacked in bringing up
more games for the players in the fourth quarter. Although a new game namely
Yoshi's Crafted World is expected to arrive at Mach29th, just two days prior to
the end of the fourth quarter which would not really impact the sales of the 2019
financial year.
It is believed
that Nintendo is now keen on capturing the sales for 2019-2020 financial year
and is developing new games keeping in mind to capture the market with maximum
sales.
Games like
Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, Luigi's Mansion 3 and a new Pokémon are all under
development and are set to be launched sometime in 2020 which reflects the
strategy opted by the Nintendo.
