Need of GMAT for MBA

Most of the premier B-schools of the world require a high GMAT score for their MBA programs. The primary reason these schools value a high score in the GMAT exam as a pre-requisite for the MBA program is that The GMAT exam is believed to measure the skills one needs to possess to excel in the rigorous MBA program. When a student reaches ones of the premier B-schools to pursue an MBA program, he or she is required to follow a rigorous academic study, participate in myriad events, handle difficult projects and work collaboratively with diverse students. To achieve success in these, the candidate is required to use enhanced analytical and reasoning skills, which the GMAT exam tests on. Thus, a high score in the exam shows the B-schools that the candidate possesses these skills.

Moreover, communication is an integral part of the MBA studies. The B-schools are able to analyse a candidate’s communication skills through the scores he or she receives in the verbal and writing sections of the GMAT exam. The higher the score the more favorable impact  creates on the admissions committee.

 There is no doubt that the GMAT exam is highly preferred by business schools worldwide, however, if due to time constraints or any other reason, one is not up for this exam, there is nothing to be disappointed. Many prestigious universities world over offer MBA programs without the requirement of a GMAT score. They don’t require the candidate to take the GMAT exam for admission.
