Mumbaikars woke up to partly cloudy skies on Tuesday, May 10, with many
attributing this weather to the effect of Cyclone Asani. The cyclone is
expected to make landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. However, accounts
speculate that the cyclone Asani will not cause rain in the city.
Moreover, the partly cloudy
forecast has been predicted for 48 hours. In the next 24 hours, Mumbai residents
can anticipate a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum
temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the forecast for the next 48
hours indicates a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius while a minimum
temperature of 28 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, in accordance with the
observations recorded on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Santacruz observatory
registered maximum and minimum temperatures of 33.5 degrees Celsius and 28.2
degrees Celsius, respectively.
On the other hand, the Colaba
observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius and a
minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees, consequently.
Based on narratives, the IMD in
its updated forecast on Monday, May 9, cautioned towards severe heatwave conditions at
isolated places in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha district till May 12. Owing to
this, there has been a rise in the cases of heat exhaustion and heatstroke
across Maharashtra.
