Miami Swim Week shows glimpses of new swimwear trends

The recently concluded Miami Swim Week, the event hosting fashion shows, trade shows and several other events, brought Miami Beach to life with many a times more number of visitors gathering at the beach than ever, to attend the event.

The swim week hosted several events including the Miami Swim Show and Lingerie Show, Cabana Trade show and also the most awaited Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim (MBFWS), which featured swimwear collections of several world renowned as well as upcoming designers.

The collection by Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza, the Colombian duo included leather-like vest with studs and safari-themed suits with backpacks. Also, there were pieces with snakeskin prints in bright colours with neon beadwork and other embellishments.

Showing for Poka Pano, designer Paola Robba in her collection inspired by myths, legends and Brazilian beliefs, presented collection of bikini tops and bottoms featuring animal prints like jaguars and penguins in soft pastels and warm tones of red, orange and lilac. Also, she showed a red polka-dot triangle top with printed bottom.

Drawing inspiration from French painter Edouard Manet, designer Tory Burch tried mixing different textures and floral and tropical prints in her collection featuring swim and surf shirts with full, half and no sleeves and ruffled bikini bottoms and cover-ups.

Agua Bendita showed a range including pieces like studded vests, risqué bikinis and monokini with bold elephant print, kaftans and fringed-crop tops with animal prints and colourful beadwork and matching backpack.

Brazilian designer Benny Rosset in her collection inspired by ‘the people that travel all around the world’ paid much emphasis to shades like orange and blue. The collection included pieces like body suit and skirt, a pink mystic tank top, gypsy high waist retro bottom, a bandeau top, long leopard print skirt and a blue Mallorca print with a side-string bikini bottom.

Nanette Lepore in her debut collection at the swim week featured Morocco-inspired pieces like rash guards, cover-ups and swim pants with floral, dip-dyed print. Also, she showed a pink fringe short crotched pullover dress, an orange beach cover-up with blue detailing, a maxi dress and kaftans.

Colombian-swimwear brand Maaji in its debut collection at the swim week showed a mix of boho and nautical inspired trends. The women’s collection with much use of floral and animal prints included mesh cheeky bottom and a pineapple print triangle top and also dresses with laser cut and embroidery on front and unique cuts. The men’s collection included prints in lemon and pink hues with a contrasting trim print.

Aqua Di Lara in her Amazonian gardens inspired collection presented teal and fuchsia coverup tunics in breezy material embellished with beads. Monokinis, maxi dresses and bikinis in emerald green, teal, blue and burnt orange hues with straps or cuts marked the collection.
