Learning how to meditate can be difficult, and it can be confusing to the beginner. Before starting, there are a few things that you should know about meditation.

Remember your self-talk and your emotions. The mind is a powerful thing. Be careful with your words, your self-talk, and your thoughts.

To make your meditation more enjoyable, you need to control your self-talk. It's best to practice a little meditation to get a feel for it. Most people don't go to the length that I have, but if you sit down in front of a television for 10 minutes, you'll have a good idea of what a novice meditator should do. Start by focusing on one activity, such as cleaning the kitchen or even doing dishes, or concentrate on something completely different, such as reading a magazine or having an in-depth conversation with someone that you love.

Now, focus on positive emotions, such as love or joy. Try and visualize your first session of meditation. Most likely, you'll focus on the feelings or vibrations that you get from practicing meditation.

If you have a desire to do meditation, don't let anyone or anything stop you. Just take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. Try and clear your mind so that you are entirely aware of everything around you.

Beginners often have to meditate in the dark. Don't worry about it. And don't get too stressed; remember that you are learning how to meditate, and this will be the first step of meditation.

When you are first beginning, sit in a comfortable position. A chair or even a meditation cushion will work just fine. Always start by taking slow deep breaths. Take the time to relax your body and your mind. This is an essential step in meditation.

Take a second to enjoy the feeling of breathing in and breathing out. Now, focus on your sensations, and you may even feel pleasure. You might also think about something happy.
