Medical Lasers Market Trends, Segment Analysis, Growth and Future Scope

by Vijay K. Web Marketing
People across the globe are becoming increasingly conscious regarding their physical appearance, attributed to which the number of aesthetic surgical procedures has growing significantly in the past few years. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 1,862,506 breast augmentation procedures were performed across the globe. In addition to this, as per the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 17.7 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the U.S. in 2018, which was a growth of 2% from 2017. This growing number of aesthetic surgical procedures is creating increasing demand for medical lasers, as they are widely used during the surgical procedures.

Attributed to these factors, the medical lasers market is predicted to advance at a significant pace in the coming years. Different types of medical lasers are gas laser systems, solid-state laser systems, dye laser systems, and diode laser systems. Out of these, the solid-state laser systems were the most in demand in the past because of their large application base. Among the various types of solid-state laser systems, neodymium: yttrium—aluminium—garnet laser systems are extensively utilized for treating posterior capsular opacification, acute angle-closure glaucoma, peripheral iridotomy, and for surgical iridectomy.

These medical lasers are used for various applications such as cardiology, dermatology, dentistry, urology, ophthalmology, and gynecology. The demand for these devices has been significantly for different dermatology applications such as pigment treatment, hair removal, and skin resurfacing. The reason for this is the growing number of minimally invasive procedure and, as mentioned above, rising number of aesthetic surgical procedures. The requirement for medical lasers is also projected to rise for dentistry applications in the coming years, owing to the growing number of tooth loss and dental caries and high prevalence of periodontal diseases.

Hence, the demand for medical lasers in predicted to rise because of the increasing preference for minimally invasive surgeries and rising number of aesthetic surgeries.
