Bhagwati Shri Awaddevi i.e. Tanot Mata was born on Vikram Samvat 808 Chaitra Sudi Navami dated Tuesday in the form of the first child of Maamadiyaji, the resident of Jaisalmer area. She has six sisters like Ashi, Sesi, Gehli, Hole, Roop, and Long. After birth, Tanot Mata performed many miracles in their area and welfare of the people. The foundation of the Tanot Garh was laid in Vikrami Sambat 847 by Raja Bhaati Tanuraoji. After this, the temple of goddess Tanot Mata was built here and she became famous as Tanot Rai Mata. The People around Jaisalmer have deep faith in the Tanot Mata. There is a fair organized every year during Navratri in Tanot Rai Mata Temple. Apart from this, There is aarti in the temple every morning. A large number of pilgrims arrive here.

Goddess Fulfills The Wishes Of Devotees:

According to the prevailing belief in the area, Tanot Mata fulfills the wishes of all the devotees who come here. The devotee binds a few rupees in a handkerchief by demanding his wish and kept it here. When the Veneration is completed, the devotees come to see the Goddess and dedicate the money kept in the napkin.

The Wonders That Happened Here In 1965

The war between India and Pakistan was fought in 1965. Pakistani Army dropped over 3000 bombs targeting this temple but not even one exploded! And there was no harm to the temple. The temple building was like the same as before. On knowing the story of the power of the temple that apparently protected the area Pakistani General was wondered. He requested to see this place. This request was granted and the Pakistani General actually went to the temple and paid his respects and acknowledged the supernatural happening. The temple has a museum which has collections of about 450 unexploded Pakistani bombs to see the common people. Which were not exploded at that time. The Indian army along with the people consider it a miracle of Tanot Mata. Because this happened once again in 1971 when this area targeted by the Pakistani Tanks for 4 days but again all the tanks were stuck in the sand.

Victory Pillar:

After the war of 1965, the temple management was handed over to Border Security Force of India. BSF maintains the temple. A victory pillar has also been constructed in memory of Indo-Pak war here. It reminds the valor of Indian soldiers.
