Main Advantages Of A Central Air Conditioning System

by GDY Airtech Enterprises Consultant
For many building owners, the centralized system has become their commercial air conditioner of choice. This kind of setup saves them from having to purchase an AC for each room. They also operate much more quietly than conventional units. This is because most of the components, save for the ducts, are all found outside the building.

And on a purely aesthetic standpoint, central air conditioning offers a seamless appearance. They make the interiors more sleek and modern, as there are no units that take up space inside the rooms themselves.

Centralized AC

Despite its potentially more costly installation expenses due to the duct system, centralized AC systems have been popular due to these advantages:

Properly Filtered Air

One of the best benefits of this type of system is that the air being blown from the ducts is filtered. This increases the air quality in your building. The filters also mean that the humidity levels will be better regulated, allowing for a higher degree of comfort.

The presence of ducts does mean that they have to be maintained to keep the quality of air consistently high. However, investing in regular maintenance for a clean duct system is definitely something worth your while. Your indoor air quality shouldn't suffer as long as the maintenance schedule is followed.

Keeping Consistency

Centralized air conditioning systems are undeniably one of the most efficient ways to circulate cool, clean air throughout the building. They can keep the indoor temperature at a consistent level. It can be so balanced that, at the most, the difference in temperature between rooms is usually not beyond 0.5ºC.

The system is capable of doing this much more effectively than single or split type air conditioners.  Granted, of course, that they are maintained properly.

Life Span

On average, centralized systems have a life expectancy of fifteen to twenty years—twice that of an ordinary split type air conditioner. They also have much fewer risks of failing compared to other AC types. Whenever they do, however (usually near the end of their life span), the issues tend not to be as major as that with most air conditioners.

From these advantages, we can see why the central air conditioning system is preferred for commercial applications. Although its initial costs are high compared to other air conditioning systems, the level of comfort and convenience it offers is hard to match. If you are still in the process of planning for your building's HVAC system, this is one type worth looking into.
