Lumsing Pioneer Speaker Stereo Bluetooth Speaker

 In the box you get the wireless speaker (complete with handstrap), Mini USB charging lead, audio connection lead, instructions and feedback invitation. The immediate impression on unboxing is of a well made unit with an original design - the speaker measures 177mm x 70mm x 50mm making it portable rather than pocketable. It features Bluetooth 3.0 plus EDR, NFC, a Micro-SD card slot, audio input (for non-Bluetooth devices). The unit also sports CE and RoHs approval marks. The casing is nicely finished in metallic blue with a black metal mesh speaker grille, plus, uniquely, the rubber handstrap runs across the top of the unit and built into the strap are the primary control buttons for volume up/down/next/previous track, play/pause, handsfree/mode. At the back of the unit is a Mini USB charging socket, audio input, Micro SD card slot plus on/off switch. The unit also sports substantial rubber feet which help its sound performance which uses two drivers with a passive bass radiator.

Power comes from a 2500 mAh battery which will give around 20 hours playing time for a 3-4 hour charge from flat - there's an LED charge indicator. I tested the unit with an iPhone, iPad, Nokia Lumia 630 smartphone and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.0, plus, I used a friend's Nokia 920 to test the NFC functionality. Pairing was simple and glitch free being accompanied by recorded voice announcements such as "Bluetooth paired" as well as a blue LED status indicator. The Bluetooth range is good at about 8 metres without interference and NFC connectivity is fine too. The sound from the Micro SD card is as good as that from the other sources and track control worked well.

 

The sound quality from this Lumsing speaker is really good considering its size and price. There's a good amount of bass together with realistic vocal and treble presence without sounding too harsh and the volume is also very reasonable certainly fine for listening in an average room. I think this speaker gives a satisfying sound - it is very listenable for its size. The quality of phone calls is also good in both directions and the music automatically mutes on receipt of a call.

In summary, this Lumsing Pioneer speaker bluetooth speakers sports a highly original design, plenty of connectivity/source options and good sound. Recommended.
