Types:

Lager: This type of beer is one that has been fermented at low temps and is the most commonly available and consumed.
Pilsner: This is a pale version of lager which takes its name from the city of Pilsen in the Czech Republic.
Ale: Similar to beer in ingredients but is matured by a second fermentation. It is normally bitter tasting with a higher alcoholic content.
Golden Ales: Pale, gold or yellow in color with rich hoppy flavors in order to create a more refreshing, crisp taste.
IPA: Meaning India Pale Ale, this style of ale is distinguished by a strong malt presence and intense hops.learn to bartend
Porter: Dark or brown in color, the darkness comes from using dark malts. It usually has quite strong flavors with a light bitter finish.
Stout: Related to Porter, typically black colored. Tastes roasted and malty with a hint of sweet caramel. This is due to the use of roasted barley.
Barley Wines: Colors range from copper to red to brown. These are sweeter because of the residual sugar content but are considered to have a dry finish. They normally taste fruity with a balance of mild bitterness.
Know what you’re selling when you learn to bartend! Beer is equally important as the rest ofyour liquor cabinet and you’ll sound like a pro now having known these beer characteristics.
