If the liver is damaged beyond repair, one of the effective treatments of liver failure is liver transplantation.

The liver for transplantation can be obtained from healthy individuals from another person, which is known as allograft transportation. One of the most popular techniques used for the purpose of successful transplantation is orthotropic transplantation.  In the process of orthotropic transplantation, the damaged liver is effectively removed and replaced with donor liver through complicated surgical procedures.

Liver transplantation is systematically used in case of acute liver failure. Besides this, the liver transplantation is highly effective in cases of end-stage liver disease. For the purpose of successful liver transplantation, a team of three surgeons and two anesthesiologists are required. Apart from this, a team of four nurses are required for the purpose of performing liver transplantation. The time period of liver transplantation is about 6 to 24 hours, depending upon the outcome of surgery.
