Learn to Add HSN & SAC Codes to QuickBooks Online Products & Services

HSN or Harmonized System of Nomenclature code is accessed for classifying the advantages under GST. Under GATT, this is an internationally accepted product coding system. It is used for UST enrolment /registration purposes in India.
 
SAC or Service Accounting Code is accessed for classifying services in GST.

QuickBooks Support Canada would like to inform you that, it is proposed under GST to use these codes at invoice level to create the taxation system uniform across India and of the international standard. Perform the following steps to add these codes to your account:

Adding HSN/SAC codes in QuickBooks for new products:

  • Click Add HSN/SAC for items
  • Click Add a product or service if no products or services are added.
  • Choose the product type- Inventory/Service/Non-Inventory/Bundle
  • Add HSN/SAC code along with other details.

Adding HSN/SAC codes for existing products:

  • In existing product or service click on Edit.
  • Add HSN/SAC code.

Uploading the codes in bulk for existing products:
Now QB users are allowed to upload HSN/SAC codes in bulk also.

  • Go to Gear icon and click Import.
  • Select Products and Service List.
  • To get the new products template, select Download a sample file and save it to your desktop.
  1. For new products and services, fill this template with data or
  2. From the Products and Services list export an existing list.
  • Now click Gear icon and go to import.
  • Select Products & Service List.
  • To find your file hit the Choose File button (from Step c) and then select Open.
  • Hit the Continue button.
  • Here you will see QuickBooks Online fields and your fields. To change how your detail is mapped using the drop-down lists. If any critical data is missed by you we will notify with a warning icon.
  • Hit the Continue button.
  • Make the necessary adjustments to your data.
  • Click Import [number] Records.
