L(+)-Tartaric Acid, CAS# 87-69-4, with E number E334,  is widely used as food acidulants in many food products. L Tartaric Acid is a diprotic acid manufactured through chemical synthesis, available as White crystal powder.  It is widely accepted as safe food acidulant in many food products.

 

General Side Effects

No significant side effects reported. Over-consumption of tartaric acid can cause thirst, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal inflammation.

Suggested Dosage

Ingestion of L Tartaric Acid in large quantity may hurt our health, please follow the guideline of using L Tartaric Acid: ADI 0-30 mg/kg bw

Special Groups Precaution

Special groups refer to newborns, children, pregnant and any other applicable vulnerable groups.
There is no evidence that L Tartaric Acid could have any negative effects on these vulnerable groups. It should be safe to use L Tartaric Acid in food for newborns and pregnant. However, we still recommend consumers to consult professionals before using large quantity of L Tartaric Acid for long period in food for newborns or pregnant.
