by Aiden Lincoln Choreographer
Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam are both very popular forms of Indian classical dance, and the best thing about these forms of dance is that they are expressive and look extremely aesthetic while performing. If you want to learn Bharatanatyam dance or even the Kuchipudi dance form, it is important that you first have a basic idea because both the forms of dance are extremely popular, but they do need a certain bit of dedication and regular practice. There are quite a few potential classical dance classes that are great for learning, but first, you need to make up your mind.

Just so that it becomes a tad bit easier for you to analyze and make sense of which form of dance to go forth with, be it Bharatanatyam or even Kuchipudi dance, we have tried to talk about both the dance fields so that it is easier for you to understand. Once you have made sense of that, it will become much easier to choose and consequently learn the dance form you will find an interest in.

Bharatanatyam Dance: The first genre that we are going to talk about is Bharatanatyam, and it is a beautiful form of dance that originated in the southern part of India as a prayer offering in the temples. The major thing about Bharatanatyam classical dance is that you get to witness a lot of beautiful Bharatanatyam mudras on which there is a special focus, and along with that, you have to learn the bols or the melodies very well as well.

One of the other things about Bharatanatyam is that there is a focus on the hip and footwork which adds to the charm of the dance form. It is one form of classical dance where your feet have to work flawlessly and follow your body.

Kuchipudi Dance: The next form of dance that we will talk about today is Kuchipudi, and this form of dance originated in the southern part of India. One of the major features of this form of dance is that there is a very potential focus on the balance because performers, in most cases, have to wear really heavy costumes, which adds to the beauty of the performance. You have to focus on the expressions well, which is a very big part of this dance form.

Conclusion: Both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam are extremely popular dance forms. However, the former focuses on mudras while the latter focuses on expressions more. If you are someone who wants to do something new, then Kuchipudi is ideal, while if you want to focus on traditional forms of dance, then joining Bharatanatyam classes like Kafqa Academy is a good idea.
