The construction of the railway track in Konkan was really Challenging. The area was surrounded by swampy marshes, undulating lands, uneven grasses, cascade waterfalls, steep cliffs, thick forests, and more. It is not easy to plan any strategies for the whole route as geography changes every kilometer. It requires cutting hard rocks, thick forests, volcanic rock, and loose sand. The challenge exceeds with its unpredictable climate and violent monsoon that cause landslides and floods in the area.
The Konkan railway track construction requires leveling the track as smoothly as possible to maintain the train's speed. It enables the train to run at 160km/h. To support this speed, the construction requires cutting down of rocks, bridges, and tunnels. It includes a total no 2000 of bridges constructed over the river.
