Know What Kind Of Treatment Is Included In Dental Bridging

by Seller Ben Buisness

Dental Bridges are used to replace missing teeth and restore function. It is important to replace missing teeth as after a while the teeth either side of the gap or gaps will start to move, possibly causing problems in the future.

Dental Bridges and Dental Crowns are a type of Cosmetic Dentistry and would be prepared and fitted by a Cosmetic Dentist.

Dental Bridges, just like Dental Crowns, can be made from porcelain, gold or a combination of both metal and porcelain. Dental Bridges and dental Crowns are laboratory made so therefore takes 2 appointments to complete. The actual stages are as follows:

Preparation appointment: Teeth either side of the gap are filed down by a Cosmetic Dentist, to make way for the bridge to fit over (rather like a dental crown would fit). An impression would be taken and sent to the laboratory. A temporary bridge would be placed. It takes two weeks for the Dental Bridge to be made. On occasions, it may be necessary for you to visit the Ceramist Technician making your Bridge to ensure the correct shade is chosen.

Fitting appointment: The temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge cemented in place. The bite is checked before you leave the practice.

Porcelain Bonded Crown are incredibly strong and durable and looked after correctly can last about 15-20 years.

It is still possible for patients without teeth to have Dental Bridges. Implants can be placed to replicate the roots of the teeth and then a Bridge placed onto these. This helps edentulous patients as it doesn't mean they must have an implant for every tooth that is missing. Few implants can be placed and Dental Bridges cemented onto these. This can also save you money as it's cheaper per unit of a bridge than how much per Implant would cost.

Zirconium Porcelain Crowns are not always the best treatment option as it does involve filing down the teeth either side of the gap. If these teeth are healthy and have had no treatment, then really, they would be best left alone. Dental Implants are another way if filling these gaps. Teeth either side would be untouched. Treatment time is longer though taking about 6 months to complete. If the gap is in a visible place and likely to cause embarrassment, then a temporary denture can be made to hide the gap until treatment is completed.

Dental Crowns are replacements that most of the dentists use to help protect the weaker teeth and prevent them further from breaking and disrupting the mouth. Know about the various types available and also about Dental Bridge Problems in the market today.
