The popular Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is massively spread across an area of 125 sq km. It has been significantly covering some parts of Palapilli-Nelliampathy forests and the northern boundary of the famous Chimmini Sanctuary. The Sanctuary came into existence in the year 1985 and it boasts of over 50 various types of orchids, several useful medicinal plants, rosewood, teak, etc. The fauna of the breathtaking Sanctuary has more than 25 species of carnivorous such as tiger, jungle cat, leopard, etc. Among the herbivorous, you may catch the sigh of barking deer, Sambar deer, Indian bison, and elephants. Apart from these species, you will also come across a whopping 100 species of beautiful birds. You may also witness snakes and lizards that have been seen by tourists on several occasions.

Best Time to Visit: The climate of the Sanctuary remains pleasant most of the time. If you plan to visit the stunning place between November and January, the weather will be in the range of 15 degrees to 20 degrees. The mercury spikes at a fast rate in the summers and between March and April, the temperature surges to approximately 38 degrees Celsius. The place receives an annual rainfall of roughly 3000 mm at an average level. During the month of June to August, the Sanctuary is lashed by heavy rain. The ideal time to plan your visit to the Sanctuary is between October and March. You will find the weather most appealing during this period.
