Whenever there is a discussion pertaining to the Japan tours, many people share similar qualms that are directly or indirectly related to food. Well, yes, there is not even and iota of doubt in the fact that the Japanese cuisine can be a bit tad too exotic for the palate of us Westerners. But, these culinary delights are something that you should never miss while you are on your trip to Japan.

Japan is famous all over the world for its extraordinary culture, the beautiful juxtaposition of ancient traditions and modern technology, the respect and cohibition of age old values and the new, modern thinking along with the culinary delights that this country has to offer. With the evolution of the global tourism, Japan is one of those few rare countries that have practically risen up with the speed of light and people are opting for customized Japan culinary tours to explore the many tastes of this nation. Now, if you are in Japan, there are a few fine dishes that you shouldn’t dare to miss. Let us know about them in detail.

1. Sashimi

Sashimi is a Japanese culinary delight that you can also enjoy in the US, but nothing beats the flavor that you get in Japan. It is raw fish that is sliced very thinly by the expert chefs and some unique ingredients are added to enhance the distinct flavor and texture of the fish.

2. Tonkatsu

Technically speaking Tonkatsu is fried pork cutlet that was introduced in the Japanese cuisine by the traders of Portugal in the 19th century. Since then, this dish has become an important part of the Japanese cuisine.  These days , to make good tonkatsu, the cutlet should be perfectly crispy from outside while the meat should be soft and juicy from the inside.

3. Teppanyaki Omi Beef

The word ‘Teppanyaki’ is a method of cooking where an iron girdle is used to cook the food and that too in front of your eyes. While enjoying the whole experience, it takes a lot of self control not to eat straight from the girdle.

4. Kamameshi

The word kamameshi means ‘kettle rice’. It is a rice dish that is cooked directly in a kettle and is garnished with meats, fish and vegetables. When all the ingredients are cooked together, the flavors are infused into the rice. Sake, soy sauce or mirin can be added to enhance the flavors.

With that being said, these are some of the finest Japanese dishes that you must try while you are vacationing in Japan.
