The mobile payment platform, designed to simplify your payment process using your iPhone and iPad (specific versions), is fast becoming an easy route for scammers to reach your pockets. Easy payment facilities and no strict checks on purchase confirmation leave card users extremely vulnerable at the hands of the scammers. If you’re an Apple pay user yourself, better watch out… you could be the next victim!

Stolen credit card scams are not new; they have been silently feeding on their prey over the years. However, this time these have evolved as much bigger threats than ever before. Scam artists are not only targeting online shopping portals but also shoplifting high-priced merchandise from brick-and-mortar stores, as with Apple Pay, they aren’t required to show the credit card physically.

Can you be targeted?     

Yes, you definitely can be victimized. Scammers are utilizing stolen credit and debit card details – including card verification number (CVV), credit card number, etc. – to rob your money. To add to this, Apple Pay has potentially erased the limitation of CVVs and is allowing users to sign up online for an in-store payment method.
