It Takes More Than One Man to Run Christ Embassy

by Chris Oyakhilome Pastor

Christ Embassy is a vibrant ministry that has grown from humble beginnings as a single church in Lagos to a global outreach that has touched millions of lives. It was founded by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome while still a student at the Ambrose Alli University back in the 1980s. Since then it has grown into a network of churches and student fellowships that spans all five continents.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome currently heads one of the largest congregations in Africa. However, given the magnitude of this continually expanding ministry and the scope of its activities, the pastor relies on a dependable, passionate team who have joined him to execute the vision of the ministry. Key in this team are the other pastors of Christ Embassy who have helped ensure that the Christ Embassy flock is continually nourished. With a global network of churches spanning the five continents, these Pastors conduct Sunday services as well as special outreach programs that impact the locations where they are.

During the Festival Creole in Seychelles for example, a special outreach was conducted by the ministers there. As people filed out into the streets of Mahe to celebrate, the Christ Embassy team went among them distributing free copies of Rhapsody of Realities, a devotional written by Pastor Oyakhilome. Those who gathered included dignitaries from other countries as well as citizens of the area.

All were reached with the gospel and it was a time of great joy as the presence of God filled the Victoria National Stadium. A similar campaign was carried out in the UK during the Rugby World Cup, causing the Messenger Angel (the name by which Rhapsody of Realities is sometimes referred to) to permeate through the country’s capital. The impact of this devotional was felt among London’s 8 million-plus inhabitants as the members of Christ Embassy Barking, UK Zone 4 used the occasion to distribute the booklet. This was part of the Reach Out campaign carried out through the year in different cities around the world.

Other pastors of Christ Embassy also led ReachOut activities in their localities. In the South Sudanese capital Juba more than half a million souls were touched as pastors and partners of Rhapsody of Realities distributed this remarkable book to the locals. The Rhapsody of Realities, being the world’s most translated book today made the distribution more effective as they were made available to the locals in several languages.

The copies they distributed were in English, Dinka, Bari, Nuer and Arabic, the languages used most in this young nation. The impact of these activities was evident in the joyful faces of the recipients of the book. “I can tell that our nation will never remain the same…because this alone proves that God has visited this nation,” said one of them. Many people got saved, others received the infilling of the Holy Spirit and a number were supernaturally healed as the Christ Embassy team ministered with zeal. The activities of this team will also go a long way to restoring peace in a nation that has recently been rocked by conflict.
