Internet Marketing (2)
by Ben Shirida EconomistSecret #2 - MARKETING
You could have the greatest mindset this world has ever seen. You could be the
most powerful "law of attraction" student in the world. You could
have watched "The Secret" 10 million times, and really, really want
success for yourself...
You could have the most powerful and lucrative opportunity the world has even
seen with the most revolutionary product ever created in the entire industry...
Everything could be perfect, BUT...
Let me be the first to tell you that none of that matters. You cannot wish your
way into a successful marketing business no matter how easy the movies make it
look, and NO ONE cares about your opportunity, your pay plan, OR the products
you are selling via your opportunity.
All anyone cares about is "What's In It For Me!"
So the question you should be asking yourself is WHY should anyone want to work
with you and how do you get them to even consider it in the first place?
In network marketing your business is MARKETING and your product is
YOU and the VALUE you can provide to your potential business partner.
In the world of network marketing it is the people who are the commodities
being traded, so what makes your offering interesting? What is your
"Unique Selling Position" (or proposition)?
I hope it is NOT the company you are promoting because as I said before, no one
cares. All anyone cares about is what's in it for them, and how can they get
what they want in the quickest way possible. In other words, it is all about
BENEFITS.
You need to know who your target market is first, before you can even begin to
start an effective marketing campaign. Once you understand who your target
market is, THEN you decide what kind of a person you would like to work with as
a business partner and create your marketing campaigns so that they attract
those people.
It is as simple as that. The hardest part is getting the target market figured
out. That seems to be the easiest but everyone is doing it dead wrong most of
the time.
Still here? Okay good.
I know that some of you are going to feel what I said was harsh, and it is. You
have to know the truth about this industry if you ever want to crack the code
and become successful in it.
Marketing is hard work and it takes time to get good at it. You will not be an
overnight success. It does not matter how good the marketing materials are
either. Marketing is a numbers game and it takes time for these numbers to work
in your favor.
You have to allow enough time for the "Pipeline Effect" to take
place.
Generate enough leads, and get these leads reading your message, sooner or
later some of those leads are going to come out the bottom and join you. The
problem is that no one knows exactly how long it takes for the Pipeline Effect
to take effect! It is different for everyone because we are dealing with the
human variable in this industry.
We could say that on average, for every 35 leads you generate here, you will
bring on one new business partner, but that does not mean that after you
generate 35 leads someone will magically join. The first lead you get could end
up joining with you, and then 100 leads later you see nothing for an entire
month, when 3 more people join.
You could bring on 5 new business partners your first week, or not see a single
person join you for 2 months. Just know that the numbers will eventually work
themselves out, and that when you are having a "dry spell" it only
means you are gearing up for a surge of new business.
I think this is the hardest thing for new marketers to understand. Because of
the Pipeline Effect, too many new marketers quit right before they see the
fruit of their labors.
You need to understand that you have to reach your "escape velocity"
before you achieve the success you are looking for. It has been said,
"don't quit before the miracle", because they know that when you are
closest to reaching your goal, you will experience the toughest challenges of
all.
When you are at the doorway of success, and all you have to do at that point is
open the door, is when it will seem like that door has 10,000 locks on it.
A very, VERY fine line separates the successful from the unsuccessful. But that
very fine line has changed the world, and those who have broken through that
line are the very vehicles of change. They are the leaders who set the bar for
everyone else. They are the great ones we admire.
Just 1 degree more...
But so many won't ever reach boiling point...won't reach "escape
velocity". They will check out before the miracle happens.
See, if marketing were easy every business would be successful and everyone
would break through to the other side and find success.
BUT, it is NOT easy and that is the truth. To become a good marketer you are
going to have to get good at talking to your target audience in a compelling
way. You will have to make your case as to why you are what they need and are
looking for.
If you do that effectively and consistently, you will make tons of money. If
you do not, you will lose money and time. There is no easy way to explain it.
Marketing will be the hardest thing you ever do in this industry but it will
also reward you greatly if you are willing to unlock its secrets. You simply
must commit yourself to the task of working harder and being better that 97% of
those who fail. There are no shortcuts.
As long as you understand this and really take it to heart you will always
prosper in this industry and you will be a valuable asset to your team.
And, you will be ready for the third and final secret...
