by Visa Experts Immigration Consultants | PR Visa AgentAs the third-largest migrant group of
Australia, Indians are on track to soon become the largest foreign diaspora in
the country, overtaking Chinese and British immigrants. This prediction is
supported by recent statistics – which demonstrate that 33,611 Indian citizens
became permanent residents (PR) of Australia in 2019, making India the largest
source of immigrants to Australia last year.
Under the annual permanent immigration
program, Indians received the most number of Australia PR visa. For context;
Australia’s skilled visas, family sponsored visas, special ability visas, and
Child visas had a combined intake limit of only 160,000 places for 2019-20.
Between 2006 and 2016, the Indian-born
population of Australia has expanded at an average rate of 10.7% per year. As
per the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the median income of skilled immigrants
from India was $56,539 in 2016-17, which is more than that of Nepalese, Korean
or Chinese skilled immigrants.
