India will end TB and leprosy in ten years

The Government of India has set a target to eliminate TB and leprosy within ten years. A special provision has been made in the budget to deal with these diseases affecting millions of Indians.

The Central Government has announced a 23 per cent increase in expenditure on health services in its budget. It also includes dealing with diseases such as TB, leprosy, and Black Azar. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that special attention will be given to poor rural areas where people do not have much health services and the danger of these diseases is very high.

 

He said, "Poor health is also associated with poverty, poor people are often victims of these ill-treatment people." He said that the goal of eradicating diseases such as black azar and filariasis due to mosquito bites has been fixed till the end of 2017, whereas the government wants to eradicate leprosy from the next year.
