by Indus -valley INDUS VALLEY COSMECEUTICALS

Hair colour has emerged as an inevitable part of life for modern women. We all love to colour those natural strands but no one wants to apply the harsh toxic chemicals. Synthetic chemicals like ammonia, paraphenylenediamine, and others can cause problems like scalp damage, hair fall, breathlessness etc.

Today majority of the consumers prefer using organic hair colour either in gel form or powder base to get shining and desired hair colour that lasts long and looks simply wow. Unfortunately, there are many organic hair colour developers blend a small amount of chemical concentrate to allow seamless colour absorption deep into your hair cuticles.

To be very sure, check for the ingredients on the package before purchasing. Herein is a checklist of ingredients in natural hair dye considered safe for hair health and highly beneficial to obtain beautiful looking lustrous hair colour.

Indigo Leaves: Also known as Indigofera, these leaves bestow a deep violet tint to your tresses, adding lustre and strength.

Henna Leaves: Henna is one of the essential ingredients for hair health. Organic hair colour with henna extracts gives an orange to reddish shade while making your hair thick, strong. For those who are looking to grow long hair, can consider using henna-based hair colours to get faster results.

Amla: Amla (Indian gooseberry) is an excellent natural ingredient for strengthening weak and breakage-prone hair. Those who are struggling with long persistent hair fall problem can get wonderful results by using hair colours with amla extracts. If you are using henna leaves for colouring, consider adding some amla juice into the mixture to get the black shiny hair.

Brahmi Leaves: Brahmi, an effective medicine to improve brain health and concentration is also a beneficial ingredient in your hair colour. It prevents split ends and reduces dandruff.

Fenugreek Seeds: Fenugreek seeds are enriched with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It helps to fight scalp diseases and removes dandruff making your hair and scalp healthy.

Madder Roots: Madder roots give a bright red colour to your tresses. This natural colourant also enhances the tint when mixed with other colouring agents.

Hydrogen Peroxide (Pharmaceutical grade): Derived from purified water and oxygen, hydrogen peroxide acts as an oxidizing agent to help the natural colourant to set deep into the hair cuticles.

Caution: If your hair colour contains hydrogen peroxide, check for the percentage of concentration in the entire product. Dermatologists recommend using hair care products with not more than 30% hydrogen peroxide concentration. The higher amount of hydrogen peroxide in your hair colour causes sulphur loss from your hair making them hard and thinner (thin hair is prone to breaking and split end problems).

While the above-mentioned ingredients are primarily used by several natural hair dye manufacturing brands, there are certain components you can mix to your hair colour at home to get enhanced results.

Beetroot and Carrot Juice: If you love to colour your hair to dazzling red, add a cup of beetroot juice and a fine paste of carrot to the hair colour (powder).

Tea and Coffee: They are not only your favourite beverage but also the best available ingredient in your kitchen to enhance the colour of your hair. Mix a tablespoon of coffee and tea in 4 cups of water. Boil this mixture until you get the deep brown to black colour. Remove from flame and allow it to cool to the normal temperature. Strain this mixture into your henna powder dye to get rich brown tint.
