In the Arena With the One X and S3

by Nischit Jain Analyst
The Samsung S3 continues to be one of the best phones available in the market that runs the Android OS. There are other players out there, and they do constantly innovate and bring out good products, though few stand up to the S3 or manage to surpass it on all fronts. The HTC One X is a well made, beautifully crafted phone that comes with a smooth flowing design. The S3 runs Samsung’s TouchWiz 4.0 UI while HTC uses the famous HTC Sense 4 UI. Both the UIs are well designed with speed and usability taken into account.

The phones are pretty evenly matched in the build quality department though fans have criticized Samsung’s decision to give the S3 a polycarbonate body, despite it being one of the reasons why the S3 is so light and receptive where mobile signals are concerned. Both the phones require a micro SIM card and support the GSM frequencies. They each come with loud and clear speakers tucked away into their body.

The phones are not evenly matched when you look under the hood, with the S3 running on a Quad Core processor with a clock speed of 1.4 GHz while the One X churns out a healthy 1.7 GHz with a Quad Core processor. The HTC is clearly the winner when processing power is taken into account, being able to perform faster and manage battery power better. Advanced users will be able to tweak the workings of S3 and get it perform much faster, though overclocking phone processors may not always be a good thing for your device if done incorrectly.

The display technology used in the devices do justice for both, with Samsung using the Super AMOLED screen for the S3 and HTC’s One X going for the Super LCD 2 technology. The Super AMOLED is able to reduce power consumption on the device if used wisely whereas the Super LCD 2 screen is able to recreate life like colors in the One X.

When comparing screen sizes, you can see that the S3 still has an edge over HTC with the latter sporting a 4.8 inch screen while the former falls short by .1 inch. That won’t be too much of a problem as such a small difference may be hardly noticed by many, though for a few, it may just be a deal breaker.

Both the phones are great buys for people who want to always be on the edge of communications technology and its ever changing environment. The S3 has been a huge success from the time it released, to this very day. It has proven to be a reliable and durable device that caters to those who want a business phone, as well as those who just want a fun and entertaining device.

Either way, the Galaxy S3 is a powerful device with a powerful processor while the HTC One X is a relatively new entrant while still being a powerful device and highly successful in its own right. Getting your hands on either device will be quite easy especially when you look for them through online shopping portals.
