Important Differences between Linux Dedicated Servers and Windows Dedicated Servers

They provide extreme security for your data and install various software to keep your data confidential and prevent spammers and hackers. The software used by Linux is different from the ones used by Windows.

Linux dedicated server is much cheaper than Windows dedicated server. If you are running a small business and your requirements are limited, going for Linux would always be profitable as it is free operating system. But if your development platform is Windows, Windows dedicated server is easier to run.

For a beginner, Windows is preferable but it is expensive as you will need to pay for it. Beware of unlicensed copies. The services provided by Linux is said to be more secured and reliable as it is difficult to hack as compared to other servers. Windows offer a wider number of choices when it comes to the tools used as the tools used by Windows are compatible with that of the tools used by Linux or has counterparts for the same.

Linux dedicated Web Hosting  Services in India , servers support almost all software and application. Though certain Windows application cannot be installed due to lack of compatibility, it will have root access. Windows applications like MS SQL, asp.net are not supported by Linux.

If you are intending to create your website using .NET environment, FrontPage, Windows Streaming Media etc, then windows should be your preferred choice as even if Linux supports these, they won’t be very reliable. Linux is said to be resistant to all kinds of viruses, though a few security features are not very easy to install when compared to Windows. Windows OS is supposedly more user friendly and using Linux for the first time can be little bit difficult.

If both are compared on performance basis, though there is not much difference between the two servers, Linux supposedly performs faster as Windows offer everything in one package unlike Linux.

Finally, when choosing dedicated servers, you should know your requirements and unless you are working with specific features that are not supported by one of the servers, it is better to choose a good host than a server.  Both Linux and Windows are developing each day and have more or less same features and reliability.
