I’m Trying to Eat Better While Stuck At Home
by Neighborhood Trainers Finding a trainer is a personal choiceWhen the
pandemic first hit, people around the world were told to stay in their homes.
Businesses shut down, some permanently and some temporarily, and people spent
more time than they ever had indoors. With so much time, it’s inevitable that
weight gain occurs as people eat more often simply due to the fact that they’re
home.
I fell into
this same trap, eating throughout the day and constantly heading to the kitchen
to find something to munch on. Since I had never stayed home for so long, it
took a while for me to get into the groove of things and make changes to my
diet to better my health.
It’s easy to
let your pandemic diet get out of control, but let’s get into how I started
eating better while being stuck at home and how you can, too.
Set a
Routine
Setting a
routine is easy, but the key is to stick to a routine once you have set it. In
order to be successful in this, you should start out with small changes in your
routine, such as setting a time to eat lunch and avoiding eating in your work
area or in front of a television or screen. Once you’ve gotten started, your
routine will become standard and help you maintain healthy eating habits.
Focus on
Nutrition
One tip a Nutritionist
Brooklyn professional gave me was to focus on the nutritional value of
food instead of how many calories it contains. Keep foods in the home that are
highly nutritious, such as fruits and vegetables, and reduce the amount of
foods in the home with little or no nutritional value, such as junk food.
Remove
Temptation
A tip given to
me by a Mamaroneck
personal trainer is to get rid of temptation in the home, reducing the
amount of times you may fall off the wagon or indulge in junk foods. If you do
have unhealthy foods in the home, keep them out of your view by storing them in
an area that you do not look in often so that they are out of sight and out of
mind.
Using these
three tips will help you get on the path towards healthier eating. These simple
changes can spark big results, so get started on making healthy changes in your
life and getting your nutrition to an entirely new level during the pandemic by
setting a routine and sticking to it, focusing on nutrition, and removing
temptation.
