IFMR GSB inaugurates 3rd MBA 2019-21 with 40% women

2019-21 and PhD 2019 was held on June 17,
2019, at IFMR GSB Sri City campus. The MBA batch consists of about 175 students
having diversified backgrounds in terms of demographics such as education, work
experience, region, academics and gender. The gender ratio stands at 40% being
female students and 60% male students. The PhD batch 2019 consists of 7
scholars having different academic backgrounds in Economics, Finance and
Management.
The
inaugural event was graced by Shri T Kannan, Chairman, Thiagarajar Group of
Companies. The Dean of IFMR GSB, Dr. V
Anantha Nageswaran, delivered the welcome address and Prof. M. Nagarani,
Chairperson of MBA Programme, delivered the vote of thanks.
Welcoming
the new batch of IFMR GSB, Dr. V Anantha Nageswaran spoke about how management
education is important in today’s economic and business environment and how
IFMR GSB well-crafted and revitalized MBA and PhD programme is going to benefit
the students.
Shri T Kannan in his talk, stressed upon “having
ordinary qualities in extraordinary measures”. The emphasis was on to become a
life-long learner to look beyond symptoms of success, to develop new ideas, as
great ideas can bring transformation in our society.
IFMR GSB currently offers full-time MBA program in Finance, Marketing, IT & Operations, HR, and Quantitative Finance, with additional specializations in Banking Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) & Data Sciences (Business Analytics), PhD programme and open and customized management development programmes (MDPs). The pedagogy offers a mix of classroom and industry exposure. Highest annual remuneration offered is INR 18.8 Lac per annum while average pay package is INR 8.67 Lac per annum for the batch 2017-19. Profile offers by the recruiters are Quantitative finance, Research Analyst, Financial Modeling, relationship Management, Wealth manager, Risk financial Modeling & research and many others. Top Recruiters are REC, CRISIL, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, KPMG, J P Morgan Chase and Co, HSBC, HDFC Bank, Standard Charted, CITI Bank, and Many others.
