Customers however can reset their password and recover their account from the web site itself following a simple set of steps designed by the Gmail customer support team. The user needs to first click on the hyper link displayed in the log in screen. On clicking the link, the user is forwarded to the screen where in a list of options are displayed. Among the options, the customers need to select the option which relates to password reset. On selecting the required option the customer needs to enter the email id corresponding to whose the password needs to be reset. On entering the email address, the customer would be asked to enter any of the previously set passwords. This is the authentication step after which the alternate email addresses and the mobile number would be taken and a verification code would be sent to the contact points. The user can then use the verification code to recover his or her account. They are advised to change their password in the first log in itself, in order to ensure that their accounts are safe and secure, as these passwords are system generated and can easily be tracked.
