IATA Diaries - A Dream Come True!

Let’s begin with the thing with which every success story starts --- DREAMS. When I was studying in a school, visiting my dad’s office was a ritual. He was an aeronautical engineer. There I used to see many aircrafts and their different models used for different airlines. I was extremely fascinated with them, and curious too. I wanted to know all about them, what are the different airlines that exist, what is the difference between them, their uniforms, and of course, the planes hovering over in the sky.

I didn’t realise when but soon it took the shape of my dreams. I often dreamt about the fascinating world of airlines. The none day, I couldn’t resist and asked him, “Dad, how can I be a part of the airlines world?”

“Study engineering like me,” he said, knowing fully well that studying that much may not be my preferred choice. I told him I do not want to study the technical details of the aircraft but somewhat more passenger-friendly culture. “Do the IATA course then,” he said convincingly.It will open many global job avenues for you in the field that you want to study and work in.

That was the day when I got sure of what I want to be in life. My first step towards the dream was walking into an aviation institute right after finishing my Class XII. The 10 months iata training program changed my life completely.

Apart from the theoretical knowledge about IATA, I learned various practical aspects of the professional industry. Be it World Geography, Fares &Tariff,Galileo system training,the airline systems, Train timetables, issuance of tickets, packages, hotels, rail and tours, I learnt all. Today, I run my own travel agency, all thanks to IATA certification.

As the saying goes, “You can’t build a great building on a weak foundation. You must have a solid foundation if you’re going to have a strong superstructure”. That’s what the IATA course gave me, a strong career foundation. From my experiences, I have certain things to share with students who are now on this path.

IATA Certification is the shortest route to success for a career in Travel and Tourism. This is because the profession in this industry is pursued by a drive, an inner passion, that makes you reach your goal in life. Passion topped with the right kind of qualifications and training is the most sureshotway to build a successful work life.
